"The Next Chapter"

Evan Troop is a rock and country artist from Dallas, TX. His family is from Winnipeg, CA and Evan spent a part of his childhood north of the border. This early international experience would have a profound impact on his life, and create a deep love for travel. Evan’s parents came from humble means, and met at a music studio in Winnipeg in the ’70s. His parents made the decision to leave Canada in 1980 to seek the American dream. Moonlighting as musicians, they were able to pay their way through University, and started a family in Dallas. At 4 years of age, Evan began learning the Piano. He then took up the drums at 11 and the finally the guitar at 18. While attending high school in Carrollton, TX, Evan earned a senate nomination from John Cornyn, and received an appointment to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY.

Upon graduating, Evan sailed around the world as a ship’s officer aboard Merchant Vessels. Additionally, he served 8 years as an officer in the United States Naval Reserve. Evan worked on several notable projects as a ship’s officer including the Macondo 252 BP Relief Well Intercept Team. In late 2010, this team successfully brought an end to the BP oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. It was during this time aboard vessels and traveling around the world that Evan began writing songs.

Making the decision to “swallow the anchor” in 2012, Evan came shore side, and went back to business school at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas. To help pay for his MBA, he formed two local bands, Bourbon Diesel and Uptown Strange. These two bands played several local/regional venues in North Texas. In 2014, Evan earned his MBA from SMU, and began working with JP Morgan. While Evan enjoys finance, his passion has been, and always will be music. From 2017 to 2018, Evan spent a year putting together 14 demos at Duprey Recording Studios in Dallas. In the summer of 2018, Evan got connected to producer Bryan Todd who is a multi-platinum and grammy nominated producer in Nashville, TN.

In the fall of 2018, Evan and Bryan recorded the Evan Troop EP at Blackbird Studios in Nashville which was released this past December. Having written over 200 songs, Evan will be releasing a single, “The Girl Next Door” in the spring of 2019. Evan plans to get back in the studio summer of 2019 to do a full length album.
