The Return of Dive Index
Dive Index, the collaborative project from electronic composer Will Thomas, break their four year silence on September 30th with Lost In The Pressure, the third full-length effort via Neutral Music. Pairing the subtle electronics of James Blake with post-rock string sections and plundered samples, Lost In The Pressure is a streamlined, tightly focussed record with complex harmonic textures and bare-breasted themes of reflection and inner turmoil. At three albums into his career as Dive Index, Will Thomas’ CV is remarkably impressive. Previous full-lengths boast features from Roger Eno, brother of the inimitable Brian, and Mark Gardener of shoegaze legends Ride, yet on Dive Index’s latest release, Thomas called on the talents of Simone White and Isaiah Gage. White, an LA-based singer/songwriter, has released three albums on Damon Albarn’s Honest Jon’s record label, and Gage, a classically trained cellist, was a member of NYC orchestral pop ensemble La Strada. Together they present an album that defies genre and melds the polar worlds of electro and acoustic music.
