Jeremy Jay

Jeremy Jay Performs "Lite Beam" at SXSW (Video)

SXSW came and went like the drunken blur that it always does. But I am very happy that this year, Youtube had the good sense to film one of the best showcases at this years conference. I speak, of course, the powerhouse showcase featuring Asthmatic Kitty, K Records, and Tomlab. K Record’s Jeremy Jay tore the place apart. Check out this fantastic clip of Jeremy performing “Lite Beam” from the excellent Love Everlasting 12”

Doctors and Dealers

Doctors and Dealers new track "The Odds Are On Our Side" feat. Jamey Huggins from of Montreal!

So there is a brand new Doctors and Dealers record out, titled Lost Friends and Newfound Habits. While Sparrow (you may also remember her from the group Southside Stalkers last year) finds herself quite busy at her home in Stockholm, Sweden studying law, training horses, and running her own record label, she has found the time to put out her anticipated second full length album. Like Sparrow’s first record, this one was recorded entirely in the comfort of her home. Among the many great tracks on this new record, there is a magnificent duet featuring Jamey Huggins from Athens’ own of Monteal. Check out the new track “The Odds Are On Our Side”!

De Rosa

De Rosa's "Nocturne For An Absentee" remixed by Mogwai

Fellow Scots Mogwai seem to have taken a shine to De Rosa’s latest record, Prevention. These legendary post-rockers have had a little fun with the second track on the new De Rosa record titled “Nocturne For An Absentee”. Thanks to Chemikal Underground, we have gotten ourselves a copy of this amazing track! Check out this exclusive remix, and don’t forget to get yourself a copy of Prevention!

New DM Stith Video for "Isaac's Song"

DM Stith’s brilliant and acclaimed Heavy Ghost is in stores tomorrow, and Pitchfork TV recently posted the video for the lead track, “Isaac’s Song.” It’s an abstract animated retro pysch-out with what appear to be Rorschach ink blots floating in an unreal space. The video is a fitting visual starting point for the album, which is at times ghostly, and at times fully dances in the sun. In either mode, the album has slowly and subtly burrowed its way inside my head.

Also, be sure to check out the fantastic Daytrotter session that DM Stith recently performed!

The Shortwave Set 2

Check out The Shortwave Set on "From The Basement"!

So we here in Athens survived our first snowstorm in about 5 years, with power outages lasting 30 hours on average across town. We could have used a “Replica Sun Machine” to thaw things out. Speaking of said machine, people have been quite excited about the Danger Mouse produced record by The Shortwave Set, titled Replica Sun Machine. The band appeared on friend Nigel Godrich’s show “From The Basement”. Check out the video below!

Lonely Dear - Cropper

Loney Dear's video for "Airport Surroundings"

Mystery is in the air (or maybe I have a heightened sense of mystery now that LOST is finally back on the air) This new clip from Loney Dear’s amazing new album _Dear John _(out Tuesday on Polyvinyl ) has our entire office scratching our heads. What is in that plastic bag? Some suggestions have included whatever-is-in-the-briefcase-in-Pulp-Fiction (notice the glowing), a portabella mushroom, and a human heart pastry (described fervently as: “you know, they take a human heart, put dough around it, and bake it!). What’s your best guess?

Also, make sure to catch the band on Tour with Andrew Bird!
