George Howard cover

Blockchain aficionado George Howard releasing new book; Paste Magazine shares excerpt

George Howard is releasing his newest book Everything In Its Right Place: How Blockchain Technology Will Lead To A More Transparent Music Industry, via 9 Giant Steps Books. The book features interviews with music veterans about the intersection of blockchain technology and music.

Links are below.

Everything In Its Right Place is available for pre-order. Paperback pre-orders will ship in Spring 2018. eBook pre-orders are available for download now from 9 Giant Steps.

In Everything In Its Right Place artists, such as Imogen Heap and Ryan Leslie; world-class entrepreneurs / Venture Capitalists, such as Andy Weisman and Bill Tai; innovators, such as DA Wallach and Benji Rogers, and numerous others provide direct and informative first-hand accounts of not only their visions for Blockchain, but the ways in which they are currently utilizing the technology.

The ways in which Blockchain technology will impact the music industry are examined thoroughly, but, as is so often the case, the music industry is a sort of Canary in a Coal Mine; as it goes, so too go other industries. Given these stakes, an understanding of Blockchain is imperative for anyone interested in significant emerging technologies and its applicability to a variety of industries.

George Howard is passionate in his hope that some of the pieces compiled in this book inspire those who believe, as he does, in the power of leveraging Blockchain technology in a manner that results in more artists not simply sustaining, but thriving on their own terms. After all, art is an empathy machine and, thus/as it follows, more art equals less war.

Contributors: Imogen Heap, Zoe Keating, D.A. Wallach, Bill Tai, Benji Rogers, Ryan Leslie, Andy Weissman, Ashley Longshore, Jesse Von Doom, Jesse Walden, Robert Ashcroft, Aston Motes, Trent McConaghy

To meet Howard in person at his SX book signing, see details here where you can find him signing books at 6:00 PM Thurs 3/15 in room 10C of the Austin Convention Center.

Peterson Xmas cover

Brad Peterson

Brad Peterson | All is Well – Christmas Single
There’s a word in Portuguese: sau·da·de [souˈdädə; plural noun: saudades]
a feeling of longing, melancholy, or nostalgia…

If we’re fortunate, as we get older, we may recall in wistful reverie -an idyllic Christmas season surrounded by loved ones. For me, that blissful time, before experience and loss, can hurt to contemplate. Rather than the melancholic tendencies I’ve often fallen to, this year I choose to celebrate in fond remembrance, those absent loved ones.

Brad Peterson: Acoustic guitar, Electric Guitar, Keyboard, Bass, Drums
Written, performed, and produced at BPLabs – Highland Park, IL 2017-11

Lyrics:
It’s twentyfive of twelve and all is well
Yet there seems there’s been something lost
The absent ones we grieve
On a Christmas eve
Sparkle in the crystalline frost
Come this late December
Recall when we were all together
We’ll toast the one who’ve come and gone
Ribbons on the wreath
Lights are strung on trees
Kiss me underneath mistletoe
Happy on our way
On a Christmas day
Memories buried deep in the frost
Come this late December
Recall when we were all together
We’ll toast the one who’ve come and gone
And if the wind blows
Like the ghosts of Christmas past
If come a long snow in a wintery blast
We’ll hold fast
It’s twentyfive of twelve and all is well
Yet there seems there’s been something lost
The absent ones we grieve
On a Christmas eve
Sparkle in the crystalline frost
Come this late December
Recall when we were all together
We’ll toast the one who’ve come and gone

Music Lovers - stairs

Get To Know The Music Lovers!

San Francisco based six-piece The Music Lovers have created their own brand of sophisticated mod pop, honing their skills since their first live show back in 2002. The band, hailing from all corners of the globe, have endured several line up changes but have never lost that great spark that yields toe-tapping melodies and singalong vocals. With their third LP Masculine, Feminine the band continues to shine with track after track of catchy pop goodness! Not too long ago, Baltimore based blog PensEyeView had the chance to speak with Matthew Edwards, one of the bands founders about all things TML. The very intriguing interview can be read at http://penseyeview.com or see their video here

As a bonus, check out the bands latest hit “Saturday”

Music Lovers - Cropper

Music Lovers Video "Saturday"

San Fransisco’s The Music Lovers make tunes heavily influenced by the works of Serge Gainsbourg, Godard, and 60s pop. It is no surprise that the video for “Saturday,” off of their killer new album Masculine Feminine would weigh in on those influences as well. The video is loaded with hot cars, sexy ladies lounging by the pool, and more split screens than five Woodstocks. Check it out!

Jeremy Jay

Jeremy Jay Performs "Lite Beam" at SXSW (Video)

SXSW came and went like the drunken blur that it always does. But I am very happy that this year, Youtube had the good sense to film one of the best showcases at this years conference. I speak, of course, the powerhouse showcase featuring Asthmatic Kitty, K Records, and Tomlab. K Record’s Jeremy Jay tore the place apart. Check out this fantastic clip of Jeremy performing “Lite Beam” from the excellent Love Everlasting 12”
