Sister Sister… Sister? Damn straight. HAIM are your new favorite band, mostly because they sound like a super-amped up mix of all of your OTHER favorite bands. The LA trio of sisters have cut their teeth for a while, from playing with the rest of their family to playing with Jenny Lewis or Julian Casablancas to playing huge overseas festivals. And they aren’t your run of the mill indie princess whatevers. Take a listen:
That was AMAZING, right?! Somehow they’ve perfected this formula: 70s pop a la Fleetwood Mac + 80s keyboard schtick a la Pat Benatar + 90s R&B a la Destiny’s Child = HAIM. All the while they dress like Girls characters but don’t make you vaguely uncomfortable in the process. Bottom line, these women get harmonies, they get rhythms, they get aesthetic, and they sound like no one else out there. And here’s the kicker: their debut album doesn’t come out until September 30th. Mark your calendars, folks.
