North Carolina artists talk about, well, North Carolina

We took a look at the radio roster here at Team Clermont and realized that we are reppin’ a fair share of North Carolina bands! We thought it would be interesting to see what they’re into in NC these days, and it turns out that The Love Language could very well be the most respected band in the Tar Heel State. Here’s what each of them had to say:

Jews & Catholics:
“Winston-Salem has a strong DIY spirit, with establishments like Krankies housing a performance space, art gallery, coffee roaster, guitar repair shop, and living quarters under one roof! There’s a hunger for live music around here, and lots of support from other bands. You could pretty much say the same thing for all of NC, tons of towns to play across the whole state. Its nice knowing we can go 1-3 hours in any direction and hook up with a band or a venue that we adore.”

Free Electric State:
“There’s as much musical talent in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area as anywhere in the country right now. Several acts have started to break nationally, including The Love Language, Megafaun, and Bowerbirds, with several more right behind them. It’s the most inclusive and supportive community I’ve ever been a part of, and incredibly diverse. Record stores are still real community hubs in this town, and college radio stations are an active part of the community.”

“Annuals like and know an uncountable number of other great NC bands but a quick short list would have to include Lonnie Walker, Hammer No More The Fingers, The Kingsbury Manx, Lost In The Trees, The Love Language, The Light Pines, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Birds Of Avalon, The Big Picture, so so many others…and we eat bbq at The Pit.”

Wesley Wolfe:
“I used to read about bands and wish they would come to FL. The only reason I moved to Chapel Hill, NC in 2002 was for the music scene. Polvo, Archers of Loaf, and Superchunk are all heroes of mine. The Triangle area is full of great music and artist. In Chapel Hill I can pick up all three college stations WXYC, WXDU and WKNC. It seems that in the past few years I’ll hear a song that I like, and then find out they’re a local band from Raleigh, Durham or Chapel Hill. The Rosebuds, The Love Language, Americans In France, The Dirty Little Heaters, and Vee Lee just to name a few.”
