Alana Amram and The Rough Gem’s “Should I Go Now” is the kind of classic slow-burning country tune that conjures up images of heartbroken, wayward souls sipping on bottles of beer at the nearest hole-in-the-wall. It may come as no surprise then that the first track released from Amram’s forthcoming Spring River, to be released March 4th on Kingswood Records, originated as scribbles on the backs of receipts Amram kept while tending bar a few years ago. Those lyrical scribbles, which conveyed how Amram was fed-up with her current situation, make up the bulk of “Should I Go Now,” a song left with a considerable amount of room to breathe. “With a song like this, you just have to know when it is time to put down the paint brush and let it dry,” says Amram.
