Parker Longbough is the recording moniker of Matthew Witthoeft of Anchorage, Alaska. Witthoeft first gained notoriety in the local music scene as a member of the band Uncle Jesse. After Uncle Jesse’s demise, Witthoeft began to perform with various band members under the name Parker Longbough. In 2006, Commander Comatose, Parker Longbough’s first LP was released. Longbough’s mix of indie and electronic pop with lo-fi country was well received, with NPR saying, “Parker Longbough specializes in the sort of sparkling, decidedly urban-sounding guitar-pop commonly found in college towns. Throughout its songs, keyboards bubble under layered guitar lines and light, occasionally programmed beats.” In June of 2017, Longbough released Bridges to Nowhere/Delirium in Lo fi. Earbuddy said, “Fans of old school indie rock will love it instantly.”

In April of 2018, Longbough will release his third album, Left on Tri. This album was primarily written in the era of Bridges, while Longbough was living in a small cabin in the woods of Alaska, trying to find his way back home. Left on Tri showcases Longbough’s ability to craft lyrics steeped in pop culture and continues the literary bent that was evident on Bridges.

Whether it’s skipping his college reading assignment of Machiavelli (“RNC 2000”), or asking Tom Clancy one of the most pressing existential questions of our time, “Where do we go from here?” (“Jack Ryan”) David Foster Wallace and Howard Zinn are conflated in eulogy on the song Infinite Zinn. The Catcher tells the story of a millennial gamer with mental illness.

“Secret Santa” is based upon the sensational true crime story of Josef f. Boehm, Bambi Tyree, and Bill Allen. Josef Boehm (61) was a millionaire founder of a large hardware store chain with locations across Alaska who had a penchant for bad things.
