Magnet Magazine Premieres The Eyebrows "Avocado" Music Video

Yesterday, Magnet Magazine posted an exclusive first look at The Eyebrows single “Avocado.” The twisted trio are set to self-release their 10-track debut album Volume on August 31.

Magnet Magazine commented on the music video, “In music, as in life, being quirky tends to elicit very mixed reactions… But in the case of Charlotte, N.C., trio the Eyebrows, there’s no need to worry: Being quirky suits them well, because there’s a lot more going on in their music that just shits and giggles.” For more glorious details on The Eyebrows freaky new music video, check out Magnet Mag’s original post here.

Girl Underground Music Debuts Xuan Single

As Xuan releases her first single “We Were Just Talking” from her up-and-coming album Have Some Fun on November 16th, Girl Underground Music jumped on the opportunity to premiere and review the indie-pop track.

About the new single Girl Underground Music writer, Janette Ayub, says “Delightfully opening with innocent banter and magical synths, “We Were Just Talking” is the epitome of inner dialogue and wishful thinking when merely talking to a crush. Fluorescent tempo switches dance alongside Xuan’s joyous, yet sotto voce delivery, sweetly nestled between jangle-pop guitar chords. Primal drumming provide a simplistic approach, allowing a centered focus on Xuan’s story. Adding a touch of college rock, the track is an adolescent ode smothered in pop.”

Ghettoblaster Premieres Balloon Ride Fantasy's "Welcoming Party"

As we anxiously await for tommorrow’s arrival of their third release, the six song EP BRF, Ghettoblaster took to the keyboard to write up a premiere for our favorite synth-pop/new wave band, Balloon Ride Fantasy’s, latest track. The title of the track is “Welcoming Party,” and in case you haven’t already listened to it, it’s fire. If you collectively took all the awesome vibes from this song and wired it to power a toaster, it would probably melt your face. You have been warned. Now that we’ve gotten that small disclaimer out of the way, here’s the link to the premiere! Check it out and let us know if you think it’s as awesome as we do!

Darren Jessee Bares His Soul in "Letting you Go"

August 24th will see the debut solo release from Darren Jessee, The Jane Room 217. In celebration of this beautifully sparse, soon-to-be masterpiece, Atwood Magazine has premiered the newest single, “Letting You Go.”

Mitch Mosk really delves deeply into the song, saying “Darren Jessee captures the heartbreak, longing, and loneliness of saying goodbye to the one you love in his bittersweet breakup ballad, “Letting You Go.” Read the entire write up here

Since 2004, Jessee’s released four records under the name Hotel Lights, all while working as a drummer for a series of wildly acclaimed acts. He played drums for Sharon Van Etten in support of her celebrated 2014 release Are We There, and since 2016, he’s been a member of the Durham-based band Hiss Golden Messenger, performing most recently on their 2017 Merge release Hallelujah Anyhow. Before any of that, Jessee made his name as a member of the band Ben Folds Five, for which he co-wrote their biggest hit, “Brick.”

Ben Millburn premieres "Call Me King" at Popdust

Popdust premieres the latest single off Ben Millburn’s upcoming album Sunglass Moustache. The track, “Call Me King,” is accompanied by a music video, as will every track from the LP. Popdust says “Call Me King” has “a grunge-lite-phantasmagoric feel to the tune, akin to ‘Strawberry Fields Forever.’ Millburn’s voice exudes sonic nonchalance with tantalizing reedy wisps of scrumptious condescension.” The music video for the track features a hazy-looking Millburn sitting in his throne with changing attire.

The Austin-based Millburn will release his psychedelic rock LP Sunglass Moustache on Sept. 14. Until then, keep listening to “Call Me King” via Popdust!

Popdust Premieres Balloon Ride Fantasy's 'Arcadia'

Balloon Ride Fantasy recently premiered ‘Arcadia,’ a hot summer track with a, “…dreamy pulsing tune inspired by fantasy fiction and pop nostalgia.” according to Popdust. The five-piece synth pop/new wave band is known for their dreamy vocal harmonies, synth-heavy instrumentation and catchy, danceable beats. The music video features their newest track ‘Arcadia’ from their third release, the six-song EP BRF, which continues the evolution of the band’s colorful sonic escapade. The album is set to drop on July 20th, and Popdust wasted no time in sharing all the dirty deets on the track. About ‘Arcadia,’ Popdust writer Randy Radic states, “…Balloon Ride Fantasy integrates creamy new wave flavors with the pulsating vitality of electronic dance. The result is a yummy concoction of stylish music.”

Leland and the Silver Wells' new single premieres at Imperfect Fifth

“We Dissolve,” a new single from Leland and the Silver Wells, premiered today at Imperfect Fifth. The track is a precursor for the artist’s new album, intricately crafted with detailed instrumentation and equally as enticing lyrics. The track is off the third album from Leland Ettinger, Leland and the Silver Wells, which will be out on Sept. 14.

“The soundscape itself is almost decadent, very relaxing due to the gorgeous choir-like vocals and the mid-tempo pace,” says Imperfect Fifth about the track.
