The full text is below, but you have to click here if you want to see the videos!

“Flotation Toy Warning‘s brand of space rock has always sounded futuristic but now the British band are being futuristic with a virtual reality music video. The video is for The Machine That Made Us‘ opening track “Controlling The Sea.” Much like the title, the video allows you to control what you see. You can move inside the video with a computer mouse or Oculus. It is part lyric video, part surreal animation, part steampunk, part nickelodeon. The video is as intensely an interesting watch as the song is a listen.”

The Revue premieres "Clap Your Hands" from Chicago's Brad Peterson

The Revue just premiered the new single, “Clap Your Hands,” from Chicago artist, Brad Peterson, calling it “an uplifting and spirited affair.” The Ellipsis Album is coming out Friday the 22nd. Click here to see the full post (text below).

——-
You often hear the phrase, “It’s a young person’s game”, when it comes to most professions. Finance, advertising, marketing, and sports are all littered with hungry, young career-minded individuals looking to make their mark. Music, for the most part, is no different, although 2017 has been the exception to the rule. The year has seen several veteran bands make comebacks and release incredible albums, such as Slowdive, LCD Soundsystem, and Ride. Other established artists and groups, such as U2 and Foo Fighters, are looking to cement their places in the upper echelons of music with new albums coming. Now it’s veteran singer-songwriter Brad Peterson‘s turn to make a comeback.

A rising musician back in the ’90s, Peterson shared the stage with Jeff Buckley and Radiohead. Just as his career was about to take off, everything came to a halt as a spinal injury left him partially paralyzed. Writing and recording music became secondary, as Peterson had to re-learn how to brush his teeth, get dressed, and tie his shoes. After months of excruciating rehab, Peterson has once again picked up his guitar and pen, and he’s preparing to release his first album in years.

The Ellipsis Album will be released in ten days – Friday, September 22nd to be exact – which Peterson wrote, recorded, and produced himself. He’s shared a few songs from the album to date, and they’re all available on SoundCloud. For good measure, he’s unveiling one more single today, which we are pleased to premiere.

“Clap Your Hands” is, as one would expect, an uplifting and spirited affair. It celebrates the power of music and how it can unite a country and bring people to their feet. Given Peterson’s own experiences, the song likely holds a deeper meaning for him. Hear the song below, and while doing that read what Peterson has to say about its development. His description is right below the audio.

TOMKAT band by Mike Ferreira

Huff Po premieres "Teardrops" from Denton's TOMKAT

Huffington Post just premiered the lead single, “Teardrops,” from Denton, TX band, TOMKAT, calling it “one of the best songs of the year.” Their debut full-length is coming out Friday the13th of October. Click here to see the post in all of it’s glory.

Full text below
——-
TOMKAT releases “Teardrops” today. The single is from Icarus, TOMKAT’s full-length album, slated to drop October 13. Based in Denton, Texas, TOMKAT is made up of Katrina Cain on vocals; Andrew McMillan on guitar; Mike Luzecky on bass; Trenton Hull on synthesizer; and Jonny Harmon sits in the pocket. Although the album was recorded in 2016, it sat in stasis until Hull entered the picture, adding the electronic essence the band desired.

Stylistically, TOMKAT skirts the edges of jazz, rock, pop and electronic dance music, blending degrees of each genre into a sound radiating dark resolves and the inhibiting prospect of psychological anguish.

“Teardrops” starts off with an ascending synth, followed by Cain’s inimitable voice and a crisp, shuffling groove. The melody emanates a measured R&B flow, along with hint of hip hop flavor set in a smooth electronic matrix, resulting in a cashmere dream pop sensibility. McMillan’s brightly shimmering guitar accents add highlights of brilliance, as the synth provides misty, sinuous, elegant energy. The harmonic themes intersect when the shuffling rhythmic components of the bass and drums merge with the liquescent synth and sparkling guitar. Cain’s voice is nonpareil, oozing gooey, molten sonic pyrotechnics that are simultaneously tantalizing, mesmerizing and colored with a textured sensual sonority. It’s a voice charged with spectral auditory gesticulations, free-floating monomers and high-rez exoticism. The combination of Cain’s evocative vocals and the radiant background vocals is delightfully delicious.

Ensconced in the lustrously gleaming melody, the lyrics of “Teardrops” go beyond time in the sense that emotion is beyond arithmetic, relating the anguish of a young woman camouflaging emotional collapse – “like teardrops on my mind” – behind a façade of sunny smiles.

TOMKAT most assuredly has it going on! The melody is lusciously contagious, emanating a hypnotic, memorable luminosity. The low-level groove shushes with narrative rhythm, allowing the synth and guitar to embed lozenges of subtle fluidics. And Cain’s inimitable voice, with its shades of exotic saffron and emerald, is spellbinding. Put simply, “Teardrops” is one of the best songs of the year. It’s already on the first tier of my personal playlist.
