ALL of us at Team Clermont are thrilled to announce that…
As of December 1st, New York publicist K. McClure will join Team Clermont!
Surely by now you know (or know of) Kelly, but if not, here are a couple highlights. Kelly spent the last four formative years as a national publicist with Riot Act Media working side by side with Joan, Nathan & their team for an amazing roster of musicians and artists.
After graduating from college with a degree in journalism and a minor in media communications, Kelly spent several years living in Chicago and freelancing for publications such as The Chicago Reader, Time Out Chicago, and New City. In the early 2000s, she moved to Brooklyn and landed a position as music editor for Bust Magazine, which she still contributes to. Then the day came when she received a call from Calvin Johnson offering her a job as the head publicist for K Records in Olympia, WA, so off she went, with her cat, in a rental car, across the country. But alas, as Kelly puts it, the Pacific Northwest was not for her, so she moved back to Brooklyn and took a position as music editor for VICE Magazine, which she subsequently left to join Riot Act Media.
Kelly has worked successful publicity campaigns for such bands as Spaceships, Ferron, Christmas, The Hive Dwellers, Chain & The Gang, Karl Blau, Mirah, Benjamin Verdoes, Kithkin, and Zoe Boekbinder. Kelly is also the co-editor of the extremely popular Total Bozo Magazine.
Kelly will continue to operate from her office in Brooklyn, NY until April 1, 2015 when she will physically join Team Clermont at their headquarters in Athens, GA. As Kelly says, she is, “already daydreaming about sipping coffee on the (insanely affordable) front porch that I will have at my new home in Athens, and working with one of the most vibrant and respectable teams in indie music PR period.”
Team Clermont partners Bill Benson and Nelson Wells, and the rest of our team welcome her and are excited about including such a dynamic, diligent, hard-working, and respected publicist as Kelly.
Look for Kelly at her CMJ panel, tomorrow at 3:30 PM an the NYU Kimmel Center (Rosenthal Pavilion, 10th Fl). The topic of the panel is Ripping off the Band-Aid: Why Feminism Matters in the Music Industry. You can find her at Team Clermont starting December 1st, and say hello any time at [email protected]!
