Pacific Mean Time Gears Up For Album Release with Solar-Powered New Single
In anticipation of their debut full-length album, Pacific Mean Time dropped another single, “Straight Shot (Towards the Sun).” Rather than quenching your thirst for their upcoming release, though, this one may leave you thirsty for more.
After a few eerie, echoing bars of sparse yet soulful piano chords and Sims’ hazy vocals, the dynamic shifts as the drums pick up and the alluring backing vocals beckon the listener, preparing them for what is about to be quite the musical journey. Orchestral fills and chaotic instrumentation reminiscent of the Beatles’ “A Day in the Life,” varying tempos, and heavily distorted vocals transform this song from a simple piano tune to a grand production. As the music begins to slowly fade away, you’ll wonder why this melodic trip has to end.
