“Wester Easter,” the raucous new single off the album of the same name, belongs in the opening credits of a Tarantino movie. Provided to you by Old Smokey, an Athens quintet that packs in the power of members from various influential bands such as Circulatory System, The Olivia Tremor Control, Vic Chestnutt, Ham1, and the New Sound of Numbers. “Wester Easter” plays with a seamless coalescence of psychedelia, backcountry punch, and the boundless talent of its artists.
Don’t miss the track, out today, via The Big Takeover.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year”.
Here to make our year is “Wonder Lensed,” a new track from Witchita musical amalgamation, The Wonder Revolution.
This song spotlights the talents of guitarist David Lord (Francis Moss) and producer/singer/songwriter Les Easterby (The World Palindrome, The World Palestine). Lord’s alternative guitar tunings provide a weighted grace that relaxes the track, but steers it from “spa music”. Every chord will provide you inner peace, as if you were surrounded by a lush greenwood.

Brooklyn anti-band Vensaire‘s newest concept album, Perdix, provides you with all of the escapism you need to get you through ‘til summer. Blending Western pop and indie-rock with a host of international folk influences, the album spans four continents, and each song’s instrumentation reflects the voyage. Like Homer’s Odyssey (the basis for the album), Perdix melds the familiar with the foreign, layering pop predilections with a sweeping indie rock determination.
A marriage of five distinct personas, the group synthesizes the guitars and vocals of Alex LaLiberte and indie darling Robert Earl Thomas (Widowspeak) with the vibrancies provided by club DJ Hunter Hawes, drummer Alex Jacobs and violinist Renata Zeiguer (Landlady).
This fusion of talent may sound like the hottest mess around, but Perdix is crafted with care. Recorded by Grammy-winner Scott Colburn (Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Prince Rama), the album showcases his signature use of samples and electronic beats to further texturize the tracks.
Check out Vensaire at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on April 14.
